Friday at Ascension Church, Philadelphia, for comic- strip artist Joseph Maneely, 32, who was killed early Saturday morning when he fell from a speeding train near Rahway, N. J. He was en route from New York to his home in Red Bank, N. J. Maneely was co-author of the New York Mirror's popular comic strip, "Mrs. Lyons Cubs." A Navy veteran of World War II, Maneely is survived by his wife Betty Jean and three daugh- ters, Kathleen, 9; Carole, 8, and Nancy, 2. Maneely collaborated on the "Cubs," with Stan Lee. The strip will continue in the Mirror. Interment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadel- phia. (hand written) mirror - 6/10/58 <<------end
